For this assignment you will learn more about the way some books are catalogued and shelved in the library! Woo! 


Step one: To get warmed up, please play this game a few times at each level, and see how you do! Shelve-it! (mrs-lodges-library.com)  

Step two: Go to the following website and watch this  presentation:

Dewey Decimal Classification System! Go through the presentation for adults.

Step three: Answer the questions on the following document and e-mail it to me!

Step four: Ask me to watch you shelve some of the non-fiction books on the cart BOOKS FOR SHELVING.

Step five: Last of all, find a funny, interesting or educational (but appropriate) video about the Dewey decimal system and embed it on to your blog. If you need help doing this, use the Help feature for your blog or see Ms. P-J

Blog Post #8: Social Issues & Graphic Novels

Find a graphic novel (or picture book) that deals with a historical event or specific issue (the Holocaust/Iranian revolution/bullying etc). It can be fiction or non-fiction.  Please have your choice approved first In a blog post include: A picture of the book along with title, name of author and copyright information. A summary of the book. The summary needs to be in your own words and include all of the pertinent information needed for someone who has not read the book to feel they understand it. This means you need to read the book ;)  Some information/facts about the issue. The information can be copy/pasted but you must include sources (MLA).
